Bespoke accessible mobility

Independence, safe access and comfort are planned together.

Every passenger has a different way of moving, transferring and travelling. Ertex reviews the vehicle dimensions, wheelchair or other mobility equipment, companion needs and desired cabin comfort at the beginning of the project. The access system, seating, controls, storage and VIP equipment are designed as one passenger experience rather than separate additions.

Accessible vehicle solutions

A cabin considered from entry to every part of the journey.

The right solution depends on the passenger and their routine as much as the technical architecture of the base vehicle. Each project therefore begins with measurements, layout planning and a system-suitability review.

Wheelchair access

A lift or ramp is selected according to the doorway, entry height, wheelchair dimensions, load requirement and operating environment.

Transfer seating

At the touch of a button, the powered transfer seat swivels and travels all the way outside the vehicle to make the transfer between the outside and the vehicle seat more manageable.

Bespoke VIP cabin

Seating, accessible controls, tables, storage, multimedia, climate and upholstery are arranged around the passenger's use.

Project process

The right solution begins by understanding the passenger and the vehicle.

The cabin layout and access system are measured before installation, balancing circulation, ease of use and comfort for every passenger within the same plan.

01

Use analysis

Transfer preference, mobility equipment, companion arrangement and everyday use are documented.

02

Vehicle and layout

The platform, doorway, interior height, circulation area and seating positions are measured together.

03

Access systems

Lift, ramp, transfer seat, wheelchair restraint and occupant belt are selected for the project.

04

Checks and delivery

Operation, ergonomics, access points and destination-market requirements are reviewed.

The powered transfer seat moves all the way outside at the touch of a button.

At the touch of a button, the powered transfer seat swivels and travels all the way outside the vehicle to reach the passenger. This reduces the distance into the cabin. Seat movement, transfer height, controls and clearances are configured around the passenger and the vehicle.

Wheelchair layout

Accessible space belongs naturally within the cabin.

The wheelchair position, approach and turning space, restraint points and occupant seat belt are considered together with the other seats. The result is planned to support access, companion needs and an orderly passenger space throughout the journey.

Accessible VIP comfort

Controls and comfort functions are placed within reach.

Lighting, multimedia, tables, storage, climate and other passenger functions are positioned without compromising access space. Materials and colour are completed through Ertex's bespoke cabin design approach.

Safety and suitability

Every system is verified for the actual passenger and vehicle.

The images on this page show examples from different projects. Lift or ramp capacity, transfer-seat travel, wheelchair restraint, occupant belt and seating layout are defined for the mobility equipment, base vehicle and technical requirements of the destination market.

Mercedes-Benz Vito and V-Class

Accessible vehicle solutions for Vito and V-Class.

The images in this section show accessible vehicle projects developed for the Mercedes-Benz Vito and V-Class platforms. Powered transfer seating, wheelchair space and VIP cabin equipment are configured around the vehicle and the passenger.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

More room for comfortable access and movement.

The Sprinter's wider doorway and larger cabin make it easier to plan powered transfer-seat movement, passenger approach and companion seating. These images show an accessible vehicle project developed for the Sprinter platform.

Frequently asked questions

Accessible vehicle questions, answered.

Clear answers about platform choice, transfer seats, wheelchair access and bespoke cabin planning.

Which vehicles can be converted into an accessible vehicle?

Mercedes-Benz Vito and V-Class are suitable platforms for these conversions; however, wider vehicles such as the Sprinter can provide a more comfortable layout thanks to their larger door aperture, interior height and manoeuvring space. The final choice is made by considering the passenger's needs, wheelchair dimensions, selected access system and destination-market technical requirements.

How does a transfer seat work?

At the touch of a button, the powered transfer seat swivels and travels all the way outside the vehicle to reach the passenger. This reduces the transfer distance between the vehicle seat and the outside. Its travel and controls are planned around the passenger and the vehicle geometry.

Can a passenger travel while seated in a wheelchair?

On a suitable platform, the wheelchair position, wheelchair restraint and occupant seat belt can be designed as one system. The final solution is verified for the wheelchair, cabin layout and applicable technical requirements.

Should I choose a lift or a ramp?

The choice depends on vehicle entry height, door aperture, wheelchair dimensions, load requirement, frequency of use and parking conditions. Ertex identifies the appropriate route through measurements and a use analysis at the start of the project.

Can the passenger cabin be personalised?

Yes. Seating, control positions, tables, storage, multimedia, lighting, climate and upholstery can be tailored while the required access and circulation spaces are preserved.

How are delivery and approval requirements determined?

The programme is confirmed during the project proposal according to the base vehicle, selected access system, bespoke cabin scope, sourcing and the technical requirements of the destination market.
